BNP’s Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal has stated, “The proposal for reforms was first initiated by BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. BNP wants the processes of reforms and elections to proceed simultaneously, but certain quarters are attempting to delay the elections under the guise of reforms. BNP will not tolerate any conspiracy regarding the elections, and a clear roadmap for the elections should be announced promptly.”
He made these remarks as the chief guest during a harmony rally in Kalia, Narail. The event, organized by BNP and its affiliated organizations, took place on Sunday (January 5) at Gajirhat Block Field. The rally was presided over by Hamidpur Union BNP President Israil Hossain Molya and General Secretary Anichur Rahman Tota. District BNP President Biswas Jahangir Alam addressed the rally as the keynote speaker, while Kalia Upazila BNP President Sardar Anwar Hossain and General Secretary S.M. Wahiduzzaman Milu participated as special guests.
The rally also witnessed the presence of notable figures, including District BNP General Secretary Monirul Islam, Joint Secretary Advocate Mahamud Morshed Japal, Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mozahidur Rahman Palash, as well as leaders and activists from the district, upazila, and union levels, alongside people from various walks of life.
Azizul Bari Helal further remarked, “The Constitution, written in the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War, has undergone 17 amendments or reforms, and it may need another 17 amendments if required. However, BNP has no relation with those who want to discard the Constitution. BNP is prepared to return to the streets to safeguard the Constitution if necessary.”
He also criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying, “The autocratic Sheikh Hasina once fled the country, but her remnants still linger here. They are engaged in anti-national conspiracies with Sheikh Hasina. I urge everyone to unite against them.”
Quoting Tarique Rahman, he emphasized, “The upcoming national election will be extremely challenging. Hence, party leaders and activists must start reaching out to voters now and seek their support.”
